Ok everyone. Check this out!
I had wayyyyy too much fun writing that post about the kids' rooms.
So here's the deal... I was hit with dee-vine inspiration yesterday. I'm going to start my OWN home improvement/DIY/home decorating blog! There are a number that I frequent, such as Young House Love, Thrifty Decor Chick, 320 Sycamore, and others! I'm hooked. I love hearing about their adventures in dressing their nests, see the pictures of their makeovers, and watching their spaces evolve. I love it!
I also love doing those things myself. And I love talking about it. (LIGHT BULB MOMENT!)
Hello!?! Why can't I do this? I can! Never mind that I know NOTHING about running a "real" blog, one read by people other than my inlaws. I'm totally unfamiliar with blogosphere etiquette. In the beginning I will be stumbling around in the dark as far as the blog world is concerned.
And here's my angle on the DIY blog. In reality, we use a budget. We really do. I have certain amounts budgeted for groceries, eating out, clothing, home improvement, etc. My real, true budget for home improvement is $150 every two weeks. Not a whole lot, but it forces me to be creative. So the idea of my blog is that I will use my $150 budget for home improvement projects like decorating, minor remodeling, furniture makeovers, etc. I'll blog about my plans, my progress, my expenditures, and results. Before and after pics, all that good stuff.
Now, I know that some, probably many, people out there make some money at this blogging stuff. They get sponsors, advertising, etc. That would be lovely, but it's not really the driving force here. At least, not at this point. I'm really excited about this project as a creative outlet for myself. I'm starting at the very beginning with really no background knowledge. So, we'll see what happens.
I'm eager to get started! I'll keep everyone posted!
